How CoasterVault rankings are built
Every ranking on this site is generated automatically from the structured records in our coaster database. There is no editorial layer, no enthusiast voting and no aggregation of subjective scores. If a coaster appears in the top ten of our fastest list, it is because the underlying speed value places it there. When a new installation opens with a higher number, it displaces the previous occupant the next time we re-seed.
This makes CoasterVault rankings useful for one specific job — quickly identifying the coasters at the extreme end of a single measurable dimension. They are not a verdict on which ride is best. A coaster that sits in the top ten of our tallest list may not be the most enjoyable hyper coaster you ride this year, and a ride that does not appear in any ranking at all may still be your favourite of the season. The lists work best as a starting point for prioritization, not as a final scorecard.
Each ranking page shows the top fifty entries in the list along with the relevant metric, the park, the manufacturer and a link through to the full coaster page. Use the lists to build a shortlist for a road trip and the underlying detail pages to confirm whether each ride suits the visit you are planning.
